磁性地层与新生代沉积

主要从事过去全球变化方向沙漠形成和演化研究，对我国西北主要沙漠的形成和演化历史有深入的了解，负责组织和实施了“中国沙漠钻探计划”WEDP01钻孔的野外岩心钻探、年代学、沉积学、古环境代用指标的测试和分析。对腾格里沙漠的形成给出了确切的年代，成果发表在Quaternary Science Reviews杂志上。
