房斌,博士,重庆大学计算机学院教授,博导。重庆大学模式识别与信息处理研究所所长。1989年毕业于西安交通大学信息与控制工程系, 1994年在四川大学无线电系获得硕士学位。2001年5月在香港大学电机与电子工程系获得博士学位,专业方向模式识别。2001年9月至2003年12月作为博士后研究员在新加坡国立大学新加坡-美国麻省理工联盟(Singapore-MIT Alliance)计算机科学组工作。2004年2月至2005年5月在香港浸会大学(HKBU)计算机系任助理教授(Assistant Professor)。主要研究方向为:模式识别,图像处理,生物特征鉴定,生物医学图像分析,文本处理等。作为研究项目的负责人或主研人员完成了并正在承担多项基金项目和研究课题。担任高等教育出版社出版,Springer全球发行的英文期刊《Frontiers of Computer Sciecne in China》编委(Editor)。担任国际IEEE学会香港智能计算分会委员会秘书(2004-2006)。担任众多国际学术会议程序委员会成员。是国际上模式识别研究领域一流期刊 IEEE Trans.PAMI, IEEE Trans. IP, IEEE Tran. MI, IEEE Trans. BME, IEEE Trans. SMC, Pattern Recognition, International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence等的特约审稿人。

长期从事模式识别及图像处理等领域的科学研究,取得了一系列高创新性,具有国际先进水平的研究成果。特别是因在科学技术进步工作中作出了重大贡献而荣获2005年教育部提名国家自然科学奖一等奖。
